What is the US Government? Studying US government requires an examination of three branches. These are the legislative, judicial, and executive branches. The government makes the laws people must follow. These laws supersede any laws made by the individual US states.
What is US History? US History is an examination of what has occurred in the United States from its discovery until the present day. It can also be called national history. Some US history courses go back beyond discovery to the native peoples as a starting point for this history.
What is World History? World history examines what has taken place in the past from a global perspective. It became a distinct field of academic study in the 1980s. It is also often called transnational history, global history, or international history, and can encompass everything from the beginning of recorded history until the present day.
What is Geography? Geography is the study of location, but also of the atmosphere and physical features the earth possesses. How humans affect and are affected by these things is also studied, including migration, population, land use, resources, and industries.
What is Economics? Economics deals with money, but it goes deeper than that. It is concerned with wealth in areas such as production, transfer, and consumption. Economists can focus on a small segment or area, called microeconomics, or on a larger economic system, called macroeconomics.
